Sunny Saturday.
30 06 2007Spent a good part of the day today going back and forth from Home Depot buying mulch for the new flower garden. I’ll post some photos when the work is completely done. What my wife said would take 6 bags of mulch took 22 bags. Oh well.
Another fairly good run. I’m glad that I’ve been able to get two good workouts in a row!
Just got back from Bakers Square, where I had the 4 alarm burger. Good burger, but being a 1/2 lb burger, it was too much. I should have ordered off of the Senior’s menu ![]()
Holy moly. Are you in Seattle? If so, let me know. There are other ways to get that much mulch, probably cheaper than bags too. (Hope its not too late.)
We may have passed you. We were at THE DEPOT too many times today!
Sorry, Garden Mentor. I’m not in Seattle. I’m in Rochester, MN. Next time I’m in Seattle, I’ll stop by with a trailer to pick up a load of mulch
You might still check in with your city offices to see if you 1) have a city arborist 2) If you do have an city arborist, find out if they have a free wood chip program. Wood chips, even not composted, can make a great top dressing for finishing beds. They help encourage microbial activity, reduce weed growth, and help retain water in your soil. True, as they break down, they can rob nitrogen from your plants, but as a top dressing, the don’t tend to be incredibly “harsh” on the plants.
Just ask your arborist for disease-free chips!
Enjoy the new flowerbed. I can’t wait for pix!
