I had a good workout day today. 7.5 mile run this morning. Sand and paint the shed in the afternoon, and a 13 mile bike ride this evening.
BTW, Rebecca and I saw the doctor yesterday. she basically said that they can’t think of anything else to do regarding Rebecca’s condition. It does appear that the beta blockers that she started on seem to be lowering her average pulse. that’s a good thing.
Tomorrow, we travel to Minneapolis (90 miles from Rochester) to see my mom. She likes seeing Rebecca, me too, I suppose :) So, I’ll probably get a light run in tomorrow evening when I get home.

Well, it looks like I have recovered from the Marathon!!! I feel like my old self again. They did say it might take up to a month to recover. “They” were right. The marathon was on June 16, and it is July 15 today.
My wife is the pastor of our church, and she’s away for some continuing education courses. We had a 20 year old from the congregation who just started seminary fill in. Very strong sermon. Very rough, but, with training, he will turn into a great leader. He definitely has the call of God.
Last night after I went to bed, I had a craving for a Dairy Queen. I’ve been avoiding Dairy Queen ever since I started my weight loss kick. I’m going over for a small cone tonight. Should taste good! I’ve done a good job today avoiding the “nervous” eating. Every time I felt that I needed to eat something, I had a glass of water instead. Seems to work!

Well, I did go out and run afterall. I think I needed to. Today was the longest run I’ve done since the marathon. It’s the first time since the race that I’ve been able to run more than 4 miles without needing to walk. I feel much better mentally now, as well.
Rebecca’s been watching Sponge Bob all day. I’m getting tired of his laugh. It’s keeping Rebecca entertained. Her pulse is staying right around 90 today. that’s OK.
Later, friends!

For those that don’t know, my 16 year old daughter suffers from a condition called POTS (Postural Orthostatic Tachycardia Syndrome). Basically, what it means is that she’s got an abnormally fast heart rate. Then, at times, without warning, her autonomic nervous system realizes there’s a problem and tries to correct it by slowing her pulse down to less than 50 beats a minute. this results in not enough blood getting to the brain, and ends up in a syncopic episode.
Well, we had another spell last night. I was feeling good just getting off of work going into my vacation. I walked in the door, Rebecca didn’t look too good. She didn’t say anything, but I was just uncomfortable with the way she looked. We decided to go out to dinner. Just as we were getting in the car, she passed out again. We brought her to the ER again. they put two bags of fluid into her, and let her come home. She’s resting today. I’ve got a headache today.
Probably won’t work out today. I may go out later. I’m doing tons of nervous eating today. Not good
BTW, my wife just left this morning for two weeks away, so…

Hooray. I’ve just one more day at work before my two week vacation starts. I’ve got nothing planned except for getting some wonderful workouts in, and spend some quality time with my daughter. Wife will be out of town for those two weeks for a conference.

Today was a nice break from the heat. Mid 70’s all day today, as compared to mid 90’s over the weekend. I could have worn a sweat shirt on my morning ride into work today. Nice brisk run this evening. Not many folks out on the trail, tho.
I realized one reason I run on trails and avoid neighborhoods. People cooking dinner. All of the different cooking smells that become evident in the late afternoon. We live in a very multicultural neighborhood, and one minute, you’re smelling a wonderful curry smell, the next minute, you’re smelling hamburger helper, and the next minute, you smell something that smells like poo.
‘Nuff said.
